Hawks open season with win over Scorps

HESPERIA — The Silverado boys tennis team opened its season with a convincing 13-5 victory over Hesperia in a nonleague match.

Silverado (1-0) swept all nine singles matches, led by Nico Combes, who lost just one game on the way to his three set sweep.

Hesperia (0-1) won five of nine doubles matches. The Scorpions' No. 1 doubles team of Luis Avalos and Dawan Robinson and No. 2 doubles team of Tim Gogley and Thomas Ramirez each won two sets.

Combes 6-1, 6-0, 6-0; Fernandez 6-0, 6-2, 6-1; Zagala 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

SILVERADO DOUBLES

Patch-Le 6-4, 6-1, 6-2; N. Sanchez-Erson 4-6, 2-6, 4-6; M. Sanchez-Nakamura 4-6, 3-6, 6-2.

HESPERIA SINGLES

G. Ramirez 1-6, 0-6, 3-6; Patel 0-6, 2-6, 4-6; Ball 0-6, 1-6, 4-6.

HESPERIA DOUBLES

Avalos-Robinson 4-6, 6-4, 6-4; Gogley-Ramirez 1-6, 6-2, 6-3; Betancourt-Sewell 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.
